How to Knit a Bulky Cowl Scarf

by

This Cyber Monday Tuts+ courses will be reduced to just $3 (usually $15). Don't miss out.

A lacy, bulky cowl scarf on big needles can be a fun, fast knit that’s perfect for when you realize you need some warm winter accessories or a last-minute gift. This pattern features panels of lace and ribbing, and the finished cowl is long enough to loop around your neck twice.

4. Finish Your Cowl

Weave in and trim your ends. It can be challenging to find a yarn needle large enough for bulky yarn, so use a crochet hook to help you weave in your ends instead. Simply insert your hook through the point where you’d like to weave your yarn, grab the yarn tail with the hook, and pull it through. Although it’s not as fast as working with a needle, using a crochet hook is a great alternative.

Block your cowl.

Style It

This long, deep cowl gives you a lot of wearing options. You can let it hang long and dramatic when it’s not too cold outside.

Or you can loop it around your neck twice to stay nice and warm and keep the wind off your neck.

You can even flip it up over your head to wear like a hood if you happen to forget your hat.
